If you are travelling with children, Malpensa is a family-friendly airport offering a comprehensive range of services and amenities. We recommend you read the following information outlining the facilities available at Malpensa Airport for parents and families.
Airplane Seating
Babies up to the age of two (before their second birthday)…
Babies under the age of two normally do not have their own seat on an aircraft, and are required to travel on a adult’s lap. Parents are issued with seatbelts for landing and taking off as the child should also be strapped in.
Children from the age of two years up to 12 years of age (before 12th birthday)…
Children over the age of two have their own seat (unless under exceptional circumstances). They usually pay a reduced price for their air fare but have the same luggage allowance as an adult.
Unaccompanied Children
Age restrictions vary from airline to airline when it comes to the minimum age of a minor traveling unaccompanied. The general consensus is that children under the age of 12 (in some cases under 14) are not allowed to travel on their own, and must receive special assistance. Certain airlines will provide assistance for children unaccompanied aged 14 or 15 (16 and over is considered an adult).
Always speak to your airline or tour operator at the time of booking to confirm age limits.
When making a reservation for a child who will be travelling unaccompanied, the airport will provide assistance to accompany the child to the boarding gate and even up to the aircraft if required. Parents/guardians are, however, required to remain at the airport until after take-off.
Minors will receive similar assistance on arrival and will be accompanied until they are reunited with the person named in the booking.
Pregnancy
Passengers are advised to inform the airline in cases of pregnancy, as additional medical documentation may be required.
